What is IP PBX?

IP - Internet Protocol
PBX - Private Branch Exchange

In a nutshell IP PBX is a business telephone system designed to deliver voice over a data network whilst also integrating with the standard analogue phone network.

The advantages of an IP PBX system include cost savings on outbound calls and many features such as conferencing, interactive voice response (IVR) etc.

These enhanced functions are primarily software based leading to it being relatively inexpensive and easy to add to and amend when required.

Hosted IP PBX

Hosted VoIP phone system Whilst you can have a physical IP PBX within your premises this does require an up-front cost and ongoing maintenance.

With a hosted IP PBX the "brains" of the unit is "in the cloud" and all you require at your premises is a suitable broadband connection and router into which you can plug your handsets.

Hosted VoIP solutions are flexible, scalable and can provide your business with features normally reserved for corporate environments.

They do not, however, carry a corporate price tag and are cost effective for small businesses and larger ones alike.
